Beyond Social Media and Empty Words – How to Make Well-Informed Decisions at Elections
The workshop includes two parts: In the first, our hosts will share different situations, mainly from the swedish political environment, focused on how the narrative in campaigning and on social media has shifted from one’s own contents to talking down other parties. The workshop participants should discuss these situations and their own experiences. This should take around 8 minutes of narrated discussion, before we move on to Part 2. Part 2 includes advice from our hosts on how to find information about elections. The focus will zoom out of the Swedish perspective slightly, but will focus on party programs, official, trustworthy websites or ‘tests’, etc. The goal therefore is to protect young people from narratives of parties given through debates or Social Media and instead focus on actual plans or goals the parties have expressed. Part 2 should also take about 8 minutes, while the rest of the time should be reserved for a short presentation of ourselves and our association, as well as possibly 1-2 questions from the audience if time allows.
